Wall Cross with Figure of Christ
A decorative and devotional object, suitable for a home chapel, church, or as a striking element in an interior with an antique style. The corpus of Christ is polychrome (painted), showing Him with the crown of thorns, pronounced wounds, and a loincloth. Above the head is a plaque with the inscription INRI (“Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum” – Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews). The cross is made of dark wood, while the figure of Christ is likely plaster or wood with a painted surface. The style corresponds to folk Christian production that was widespread in the 19th and first half of the 20th century.
Period: First half of the 20th century
